Hammock Camping. Just now getting into it?
So let's say you're interested in getting into Hammock Camping, what is the best stuff you need?
Well depending on your budget and needs there are multiple options for you to consider. Brands like ENO(Eagle Nest Outfitters), DD Hammocks, Ticket to the Moon, and many others offer a wide variety of different styles, options, and prices for their products.
So what's right for you? Well for simplicity, let's say we are looking for the items for the casual beginner.
Take note this is just my personal opinion of the best "bang for your buck" option. In no way am I saying that products by ENO, DD Hammocks, or Ticket to the Moon are in anyway not excellent products.
* First let's look at a Hammock.
A Hammock that I can give my personal recommendation to, since I have had one for two years and have had no issues out of it at all is the OuterEQ Portable Parachute Nylon Fabric Travel Camping Hammock. This Hammock, at least for me got me into the whole hammock camping/ Bushcraft world.
This Hammock means a lot to me personally because it did not
cost that much and it renewed my interest in the outdoors.
These hammocks can be found on Amazon from anywhere at $16.00 to $35.00 dollars and come in a multitude of different colors and sizes. (the link will be available and the bottom)
* Next let's talk about Straps.
Another personal experience I have had with is the Nature's Hangout Hammock Tree Straps. Heavy Duty.
A little pricey compared to just standard tree straps, but what makes these worth it is the adjustable loops. This allows you to hang your hammock from tree further away than the average Tree Straps will allow. Each Strap is 10 ft long and have a rated weight of 250 lbs making the combined weight at 500lbs for both of them.( the straps are tested at 1000 lbs) The cost of these straps are in the neighborhood of $21.00- $25.00, However I believe they are worth the price.
* Finally let's look at the Item that will keep you dry, the Tarp.
Now I personally own a DD Hammock 3m x 3m Tarp, and I couldn't be happier about it. However for those who may not have the money or the drive to fully invest in a high end tarp I can only make this recommendation.
TheBlueStone Rain Tarp Shelter in 10 x 10 FT for Canopy Hammock Outdoor Camping.
From reviews I've read it seems like a good choice for someone starting out.
Combined all together the overall cost through Amazon.com is around $70-$85 Dollars which is much lower than high end brands ( not saying they are not worth it though)
